Purchasing a shredder can be a bit overwhelming when you first
start out. It is hard to know what the difference is between a 15
sheet cross cut shredder and a 17 sheet cross cut shredder.
When you are starting your research on what kind of shredder you
want to purchase take a moment to think about what you want to shred.
This may sound sill, of course you want it to shred paper. But what
quantity of paper and what weight is the product you are shredding.
You don’t want to spend the money on a paper shredder to find that it
will not shred the quantity you need it to.
Some shredders shred paper only at the rate of only a few pieces at
a time. Other shredders shred 20 plus pieces of paper at one time,
have options to shred credit cards, cardboard and even computer
discs. The range is fairly vast as is the pricing. One of the more
common paper shredders is a 15 sheet cross cut shredder. The prices
on these units run anywhere from $100- $250 and they come in all
shapes and basket capacities.
If you plan to shred often you are likely to want to get a shredder
that has a large basket to collect the shredded material. The
advantage of that is time saving. This will enable you to go longer
between basket liner changes. If you plan to shred once a month if
you are lucky, you may not be as concerned with the size of the waste
container. If you plan to shred media such as old computer discs,
music cd’s or even have a large number of credit card or like products
that will need to be shredded regularly, you may want to consider a
higher end model of paper shredder. The investment may well be worth
it to you.
Deciding on a paper shredder is not as easy as one might think.
Take a few moments to sit and write down what exactly you want this
sturdy little machine to do over the next period of time. The hassle
of a broken machine because it was overloaded is not worth the money
of purchasing a new one. You may even want to ask around to see what
other people are using and how they like them and what exactly they
put their machine through in a day.
